Why should I create and assign Landowners and Land Agreements to boundaries?

Overview:

In Traction Enterprise, Land Agreements are the driving forces behind Crop Ownership Balances during and after harvest.  As such, creating and assigning landowner agreements to fields in your Traction Enterprise environment is an easy, yet important, step to ensure a successful harvest.

Requirements:

  • Setup>Entities
  • Create and assign Land Agreements

Answer:

Example

Field 1 has no Landowner and no Land Agreement is specified before beginning harvest.

During harvest, Scale Tickets are entered for a crop that was harvested from Field - 1 and physical inventory appears to be building appropriately; however, if you look at your Crop Ownership Balances, you can see that your previously entered Scale Ticket (535.71 bu) appears to be attributed to an Unknown Entity. This happened because no Landowner and no Landowner Agreements were assigned to Field - 1.

Now let's look at what happens when you assign a Landowner and Land Agreement to Field - 1.

First you need to open and resave your original Load. Now you can see that the crop attribution has been updated appropriately as per the Landowner Agreement.

Notes:

  • Crops harvested from a field with no specified landowner or land agreement appear as an Unknown Entity on the Crops>Inventory>Ownership Balances page.
  • Even if your own farm entity is the sole Landowner of a field, specify the farm entity as the Landowner and select Owned on the Setup>Land Agreements page to ensure that harvested grain is properly allocated to your farm.
