Overview:
When your Machine Data Files are imported into Traction Enterprise Business from MyJohnDeere or Precision Planting/FieldView, they should automatically link to the appropriate Tasks that you have set up in your Crop Plans.
Requirements:
- In order to have files from MyJohnDeere or Precision Planting/FieldView link to tasks, you must first have the integration setup in your Traction Enterprise account. To learn more about integrating your account, read How do I integrate machine data between MyJohnDeere and Traction Enterprise.
- Your field operations will only link if a Field Plan has been assigned to the Boundary the activity occurred on.
- The Task needs to be setup to match the Machine Data file.
- For example, a Fertilizer Spreading Task must be setup in a Crop Plan for the As Applied amounts from the Machine Data to be tied to that Task. If needed, view this introduction to working with Machine Data in Traction Enterprise.
- Inputs must be set up in Traction Enterprise, and need to match the input names in your monitors.
Answer:
If you have a Task set up to match the Machine Data files that have been imported, but they're still not linking, there are a few other items to check:
- Task Date Range: The date range on the Task in the Crop Plan needs to be within +/- 3 months of the actual date that the Task happened, according to the Machine Data.
- Field Effective Dates: The effective dates on the field that the Machine Data should be tied to must encompass the date that the action was performed on the field.
- Geospatial Data: The Field Boundary in Traction Enterprise Business needs to match the Field Boundary in the Machine Data.
- Equipment and Operator Names: The Equipment or Operator may be entered incorrectly into the monitor, or setup as something different in Traction Enterprise. Simply match them to what you have in Traction Enterprise and check the box to save that name as an alternate so that future files can be pulled in with that name.
- Note: Your Import Settings may be set so Equipment and Operator do not trigger a "Needs Review" for linking.
- Inputs: If the Inputs listed on the monitor do not exactly match Inputs you have setup in Traction Enterprise, it may be necessary to add/edit Inputs or Mixes to exactly match the names of the ones you're recording from your monitors.*
- *For single inputs, you can match the differently-named input that was used by clicking on Input on the right-hand column of the Field Operation Details and search for the name as it is in Traction Enterprise. There is then an option below -- a check box -- to "alias" the input name from the monitor to the one that is in Traction Enterprise (i.e. the check box that reads "Save [monitor input name] as an alternate name for [Traction Enterprise input name]").
- *For input mixes, so long as at least 1 input name from monitor matches with an input set up in Traction Enterprise**, an "Incomplete mix (edit to resolve)" message will show in the Input box. After clicking "Edit Mix," a modal will pop up allowing you to match and alias inputs.
- Make sure you have "Use Inputs Recorded in Monitor" set in your Settings.
- Make sure you have "Use Inputs Recorded in Monitor" set in your Settings.
- Bulk Linking of inputs: Upon hitting save after reconciling input(s), if any other unlinked field operations are detected with the same input(s) recorded in monitor, a "Bulk Linking" modal will pop up where you can allow Traction Enterprise to "Link to all" to speed up the reconciling process.
- NOTE: this only ensures that Input(s) are properly linked. There are cases where the Task, for example, can still incorrectly link and will need to be swapped out for the correct one. Having accurate Crop and Field Plans will ensure proper task linking
Note on Equipment linking: To ensure equipment links properly in the future, copy and paste the equipment serial number from the Field Operation to the VIN field on the Setup>Equipment page for that particular piece of equipment. This will ensure that future machine data records will automatically link the correct equipment.
If you check all of the items above and everything appears correct, but your Machine Data Files still aren't linking to the correct Task, contact Traction Enterprise Support by phone or chat, or reach out to your Customer Success Manager.
