What is the difference between a field and a field boundary?

Overview

On your farm, your field names and operating boundaries may be identical.  In other cases, a field might contain several operating boundaries.  In Traction Enterprise, planning, operating, and reporting are oriented to boundaries.

Answer

  • field is the largest contiguous operational unit.  This large area of land may not be farmed in the same way.
  • boundary or field boundary is an area within each field where you are growing one crop and doing the same activities on that entire boundary.  A boundary can be the same size as the entire field or you may have several boundaries under one field.

These examples should help to illustrate the differences.
