What happens if I edit a field boundary shape in the middle of the season?

Overview

When you define a boundary in Traction Enterprise, you can change the shape, and therefore acreage, over time.  To properly track your costs per acre each year, Traction Enterprise will track shape changes over time so that work you did last year reflects the acreage your field was last year.

Requirements:

Field boundaries need setup in Traction Enterprise.

Answer:

When you edit a field, you are asked if the change should go into effect:

  • This Production Cycle (Jan 1)
  • Beginning of Field History
  • Custom Date

Note: If you specify this production cycle as the point at which the new boundary will go into effect, the Field Plan's updated shape and acreage goes back to January 1st of the current production cycle.

Note: If you choose a Custom Date and there was any work recorded on that field before that date, the field won't reflect your changes until the next production cycle. If you have work recorded on the field, set the Custom Date back before that date.
