Answer:
Certain farm operations (field scouting, irrigation records, or safety checks) involve Tasks that are done as part of a weekly or periodic routine. It might seem like multiple Tasks or weekly individual Work Orders are not always the right approach.
The advantage of individual Work Orders and Tasks is to capture notes, photos, and data at a detailed level that can be sorted and analyzed as part of management decision-making. The disadvantage is that certain recurring Work Orders or Tasks impose a layer of micro-record keeping that might be out-of-step with the way you run your farm.
In these situations, you can balance task management with over-management in Traction Enterprise by establishing a single Task with a season-long window. For example, a farm can schedule irrigation on a field to last the entire season with one Irrigation Task.
Note: To obtain individual records of irrigation, do not use a single task for irrigation. Create individual irrigation tasks in order to see each one in a report. A single irrigation task with a season-long window is only fit for operations that do not need to see each single irrigation activity record in Reports.
Multiple Work Orders can be assigned to accomplish a single season-long Task, each representing an employee's actual activities. As many Work Orders as needed can be created for that one Task on the Task Manager or Task Review during the date range.
Another technique to simplify record keeping for repetitive Tasks is to create a Task with a standing Work Order. The employee is instructed to pause the Work Order after each activity, and not close it. This way, multiple related activities can generate a combined set of notes and records.
In the example below, the Work Order is planned to last the entire season, and offers a place for the employee to record maintenance information, notes, and irrigation data.
If you are still unsure how to best go about frequently recurring Tasks or how to best track irrigation: (1) reach out to your Customer Success Manager, or (2) contact Customer Support on the Traction Enterprise app.
