How do I track Variable Rate Fertilizer applications?

Overview:

When creating fertilizer application Tasks, Traction Enterprise prompts you to enter a rate per acre of fertilizer that you are going to apply. If you are using variable rate technology, we recommend that you set the rate per acre in the Task as the average rate that you think will be applied across the entire field boundary.

Requirements:

  • Crop Plans need assigned to field boundaries.

Process:

If some parts of the field receive significantly more or less fertilizer than others and you want to track that more accurately, you have two options:

  1. Create separate Boundaries for these areas in Setup>Fields.

    Note:
If you do decide to use separate boundaries to track the different fertilizer rates, splitting one field boundary into two or more boundaries means that you will have to create separate Tasks and Work Orders for all other trips across the field as well (not just for fertilizer applications).
  2. Enter the average rate per acre.

For example: If your rates are going to vary anywhere from 1 ton to 4 tons per acre in some spots, we recommend you enter 2.5 tons per acre as the rate. Once you complete the fertilizer application Work Order, you will be able to enter the actual total amount of product applied to that field.
