How do I track differing yields across a field?

Requirements:

  • Setup your Fields/Boundaries, Inputs, and at least start on your Crop Plans.

Answer:

If you have a field that always has a significantly higher or lower yield in some spots, compared to the rest of the field, and you need to track these differences separately, there are two ways to do so.

1. Set up separate boundaries for the different areas

For more information on how to split a boundary into two separate boundaries click here.

If you do create two separate boundaries, you will have two separate Crop Plans, and therefore will have to complete Work Orders for both of the new boundaries, even if you're operating them the same way.

This option is best if you care a lot about the geographic location of the higher or lower yielding parts of the field.

An example of this might look like the image below:

2. Create two Harvest Tasks on the plan for that field

This option allows you to create two Harvest Tasks for a given field.  One of these could be for the higher yielding portion of the field and the other for the lower yielding portion.

This would allow you to record total bushels harvested from those two areas separately, but it would not show the physical area of higher and lower yields.

An example of a plan with two separate Harvest Tasks would look like this:
