How do I roll my Input Inventory from one year to the next?

Overview

At the end of a production cycle, it is common to have inputs leftover that will be carried over to the next production cycle.

In this article, we will go over the process for rolling your Input Inventory over to the next year.

Requirements

In order to move inventory from one year to the next, you must have accurate Input Balances in the previous year to ensure correct inventory moving forward to the next year.  Through this process, it is important to know your prior year balances.  We recommend downloading the previous year Input Balances report so you can reference it later if needed.

  1. Navigate to Inputs>Inventory>Balances page.
  2. Add/edit filters and or columns to customize the report to your liking
  3. To download, click the download icon  in the upper-right corner.

Process

  1. Navigate to Inputs>Inventory>Transfers.
  2. In the upper right hand corner, click Add.
  3. Select Delivery.
  4. Select the next crop year Production Cycle and add your list of inputs that you intend to carryover to the next year.
    • Note:  It is important to add this as a Delivery in the next crop year production cycle instead of an adjustment so we can capture the cost of the inputs. 2019-12-16_13-26-16.png
  5. After carrying your inputs over to the next year, you still need to make an Adjustment to the previous year's inventory in order to zero out the balance.

To Zero Out Previous Year's Balance:

  1. Make sure you are in the previous year's production cycle and click Add in upper-right corner.
  2. Select Return.
  3. Enter a return to all inputs and locations that you carried over into the next crop year.

Note:

It is helpful to include a note that says "Carryover to Year X"
