Overview:
To streamline records and operations, some farms have to combine operational boundaries. This usually happens between growing seasons as part of a planning effort, but it might also occur while a crop is growing on the affected fields. Traction Enterprise can accommodate such changes and archive records associated with a field that is subsequently merged with another field.
Requirements:
Add fields in Setup>Fields.
Process:
In many cases it is best to create a new boundary while setting End Dates for the old boundaries.
- Navigate to Setup>Fields.
- Find the field in the list of field names that contains the boundaries you want to merge. Select one of the smaller boundaries (A and B). Click Edit.
- Add an End Date. It's best to use the end of a Production Cycle (i.e. December 31, 2019).
- Once you've added end dates to the 2 smaller boundaries (A and B), click on the gear wheel on the field and select "Draw Operational Boundary".
- Use the boundary drawing tools to create the new boundary under this existing field.
- A new boundary for Field AB is drawn with a starting effective date immediately after the ending effective date of the previous smaller fields.
Note: By creating a new boundary, you can easily activate whichever boundary you need for the year and inactive the ones you don't. This is helpful if you regularly combine a field and then split it again the next year.
