How do I account for "replanting" scenarios?

Overview:

When things do not go as planned, you might need to replant your field. When this happens, there are two scenarios you might encounter:

  • Scenario 1: Needing to change the Crop Plan entirely (for example, switching from corn to soybeans). Learn more about switching out your Crop Plans when you need to replant.
  • Scenario 2: Making another pass with the planter using the same Crop Plan.

Requirements:

  • Setup  Inputs, Land Agreements, Financial Accounts, Fields/Boundaries, Crop Plans and Tasks, Field Plans).

Process:

Scenario 1

This scenario is relevant after a major weather event; one in which conditions were so drastic that you have to scrap your initial plan for a field and start fresh with a new crop.

Traction Enterprise makes it easy to change the crop species on any plan that is assigned to your fields:

  1. Navigate to Operations>Plans>Field Plans
  2. Select the fields you want to edit.
  3. Drag and drop the Crop Plan on the left onto the appropriate field.
  4. Merge Plan.

Completed Tasks (with the exception of the Planting Task) from the original Crop Plan are migrated into the new Crop Plan assignment.

Notes:

  • The Planting Task associated with the new Crop Plan assignment is automatically Replanting.
  • Alternatively, you could choose to add an additional Planting Task (reflecting the new crop) to the existing Crop Plan and then adjust the remaining tasks on the original Plan as needed using Task Manager

Scenario 2

This scenario is relevant when an additional pass with the planter is needed to fill gaps (assuming the same Crop Plan is to be maintained):

  1. Add a secondary Planting Task to the original Field Plan. You can do this from the Task Manager page.mceclip0.png
  2. Check the box in the Planting Task to indicate this is a Replant. This allows you to filter for "Replanting" on any page that has a task sub-type filter (for example, Input Usage Analyzer).
  3. Assign the replanting Work Order to the appropriate Operator.

  1. To replant a field, the Operator should start the Work Order as they normally would.
  2. The operator can change seed varieties or inputs applied, if needed.
  3. After the Operator completes the Work Order, they enter the actual number of acres replanted and the amount of seed or other product applied.

The data from the original planting Task and the new replanting Task are accounted for and flow through to other pages in Traction Enterprise, such as Profit Analyzer and Input Usage Analyzer.
