Overview:
Harvest Settings are used to calculate dry bushels automatically based on industry standard formulas.
Requirements:
- Crops need established within your Traction Enterprise account.
- Crop Plans need assigned to field boundaries.
Answer:
Under Setup>Crops, Traction Enterprise lets you determine the conversion rate, shrink, and target moisture for each applicable crop. The software then uses these settings to calculate dry bushels automatically based on industry standard formulas. If you are curious about how the math works, review the following details.
When Wet Weight (lbs) and Moisture (%) are entered on a transfer or ticket, the following formula is used to auto-calculate Dry Bushels added to inventory:
- Wet Bushels = Wet Weight (lbs) / Conversion Rate
- Moisture = Moisture logged for this transfer or ticket
- If Moisture < Target Moisture, Dry Bushels = Wet Bushels
- Otherwise:
- Shrink%= (Actual Moisture - Target Moisture) * Shrink Factor
- Dry Bushels = Wet Bushels * (100% - Shrink%) / 100
Example: If you have 56,000 pounds of corn delivered to storage and the following defaults:
- 56 lbs/bu
- 1.5 Shrink Factor
- 15% Target Moisture
Here are the calculated Dry Bushels for a sample of different moistures:
