Can I use Harvest Data from a yield monitor as my inventory source?

Overview:

During the harvest process, establish your yield data in a way that appropriately contributes towards your crop inventory. This source of truth is the control point where the crop yield is established as a standard. Usually, this source of truth is from a grain cart or a truck scale, but some farms prefer to use the combine yield monitor as the source of truth. You can easily reflect this value in Traction Enterprise.

Requirements:

  • Work orders need assigned to your Combine (Harvester) Operators.

Answer:

Yes, you are able to use Harvest Data from a yield monitor as your inventory source.  The Harvester Operator is able to enter Loads for their monitor data to count towards inventory.  Entering Field Totals does not count towards inventory.

Note: This method works best for farms that do not have Operators completing Truck or Grain Cart Work Orders (and consequently entering Loads) because this misconstrues the yield for that particular field.
