10 Clever Ways to Use Input Usage Analyzer Webinar

Overview:

Input Usage Analyzer (IUA) allows you to report on your planned and actual input usage and costs in flexible and dynamic ways. Using these clever ways will help you maximize efficiency of IUA.

Answer:

Tip #1: Use Column Edit tool to arrange your columns in the sequence you prefer

Column Edit is very handy to focus your eyes on what's important. Click the Column Edit icon and drag the column choices to appear instantly in left-to-right order. Use the green plus symbol to add desired columns or the red minus symbol to delete unwanted columns.

Tip #2: Use Filters to isolate your focus

Rather than taking in all of your crops and fields into one analytic view, you can set filters to limit the analysis to one crop or a set of inputs. Click the Filter expand arrows and either search or pick from a list of choices, or both search and pick.

Tip #3: Reveal or expand the row hierarchy

When you hover over the upper-left cell in the table (includes Expand To) your row hierarchy is revealed. This is the stacked order of the rows on any part of Input Usage Analyzer.

Traction Enterprise Business has this helpful feature to allow you to see which row data is available when you drill down from the top-most categories to the finest, most granular categories. You can then use the Expand To option to simultaneously expand multiple rows on the table.

Tip #4: Choose the filters you use by the report type you use

Traction Enterprise has four default (pre-set) Input Usage Analyzer reports, and unlimited Custom reports. We recommend matching your filter settings to the report type for high-impact analysis. For example, if you are using the By Task report, use the filters that pertain to tasks, such as task name, type, or status. That way you're not mixing data categories and having to account for the blending unless desired.

Tip #5: Sometimes it is better to just Reset

It is common to be analyzing data and not realize there are particular filters in place.  With all the filtering options Traction Enterprise provides, it might be best to hit the Reset button to clear out any filters.

One Traction Enterprise Business bonus features is being able to reset filters or columns individually without also reverting your other settings.

Tip #6 Easily spot-check for application errors

Select By Task default report and edit the columns to include Planned Rate and Actual Rate side-by-side. On any task that does not have an Actual Rate, the two dashes appear (--). This shows that there is no application record for that task - an omission that needs updating right away. Be sure to set the Task Status  = Completed to make sure you are reviewing application tasks that operators have reported as completed.

Tip #7: Become a pro at customizing

The most powerful analysis tables are those you create yourself, based exclusively on your needs.  Create your own Custom table by manipulating both the columns and rows to dig into the data.

For example, if you wanted to know which fields were planted on which dates, organize rows into Crop > Task Completed Date > Input, and columns into Actual Quantity and Actual Rate; filter for Input Type = Seed.

Tip #8: Save and share your custom reports

When you save custom view, it is available for others on your team to access as well. Once you have developed the custom analysis table you would like, navigate to Options > Save as New.

When you save a custom report, it is available to everyone with access to the web app.  If you make changes to a custom report, it can be updated by saving changes or save as another custom report.

Tip #9: Use the 'cross-hairs' tool to drill through to the underlying record

The information presented on the Input Usage Analyzer is a summary of many field records. If you want to drill through to see the records that lead to the summary, first click on the cross-hairs icon, then click on one of the cells that are shaded blue (best to have an Actual Quantity or Actual Rate column enabled). When you're checking actuals, click More Details and the drill-through will take you to the input usage transfer. If you make any edits to the source record, the Input Usage Analyzer will need to be refreshed to re-summarize the data.

Tip #10: Drill down to a particular landowner

If a landowner asks for a summary of inputs used, costs, or other details, Input Usage Analyzer will provide the details you need quickly and efficiently. Use the default report "By Landowner" and filter for task completion and arrange columns the way you need. You can also use Custom report to develop the row ordering you want, including the Landowner as a top-level row and the appropriate columns.
